EASTON, Mass. (May 8, 2015) – Stonehill College senior second baseman Christian Baglini (Milford, Connecticut/Notre Dame) has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District I Baseball Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in NCAA Division II from the East Region. With his first team selection, Baglini is now eligible for Academic All-America honors to be released later this month.

Baglini, a neuroscience major with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, earns Capital One Academic All-District accolades for the second consecutive spring. He becomes Stonehill's third Academic All-District selection in the last four years, as Michael White, '12, was recognized in 2012.

Baglini has been the recipient of the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for posting the highest cumulative GPA on the baseball team all three years with the program, and he has been named to both the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all five semesters. In addition, Baglini earned a Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award as a sophomore in 2013 and 2014.

The Milford, Connecticut, native has appeared in 43 of Stonehill's 44 games this spring, starting 42 of those contests. He is batting .248 (40-for-161) with eight doubles and 19 runs batted in to go with 28 walks and 28 runs scored. Baglini posted a season-high nine-game hitting streak from April 11-19, a stretch in which he led the Skyhawk offense with a .457 (16-for-35) batting average with four doubles, five RBI, six walks and nine runs scored. He turned in eight multi-hit efforts this season, including four three-hit performances and a 2-for-4 showing in Stonehill's 6-5 win over No. 18 Southern New Hampshire University on Senior Day.

In 120 career games with Stonehill, Baglini is a .270 (114-for-422) hitter with 20 doubles, three triples and 56 RBI while drawing 57 walks and scoring 65 runs. He also made two appearances on the mound as a sophomore, giving up one run on four hits in three innings of work.

Stonehill (32-11-1, 16-7 NE-10), ranked third in the NCAA East Region, defeated Southern New Hampshire 4-3 in the first round of the NE-10 Tournament on Tuesday before opening the Championship Weekend double elimination round yesterday with a 2-1 victory over Adelphi University. The Skyhawks will face No.1/3 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University today on day two of the Championship Weekend at the University of New Haven's Frank Vieira Field.
