FORT WORTH, Fla. (March 9, 2015) – The Stonehill College baseball team scored five runs in the third inning and three in the seventh on its way to an 11-8 non-conference victory over Nyack College today in Fort Worth, Florida.

Eight of Stonehill's nine starters recorded hits and all nine reached base, led by junior outfielder Brian Campbell (Franklin, Massachusetts/Mount Saint Charles), who went 3-for-6 with one RBI, two runs scored, and three stolen bases. Sophomore outfielder Ben Monte (New Haven, Connecticut/Guilford) posted a 2-for-4 effort at the plate, hit his first collegiate home run, walked, and scored three runs, while senior catcher Eric Schneider (Camarillo, California/St. Bonaventure) added two hits and one RBI.

Junior Mike Krupczak (Springfield, Massachusetts/Cathedral) earned the win for the Skyhawks after striking out six and giving up just one run on six hits over five innings of work.

Senior infielder Hilario Vidaurre (Arlington, Texas) was one of three Warriors to post a multi-hit effort, as he went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Senior catcher Nick McConnell (Edison, New Jersey) added three hits, while classmate Brent James (Seligman, Arizona) went 2-for-5 with one RBI and two runs.

Junior Jean-Felix Proulx (Montreal, Quebec) took the loss for Nyack after giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits through five frames. Proulx was able to record nine strikeouts while walking just one batter.

Stonehill, which posted a pair of five-run innings in yesterday's 12-9 win over American International College, put five more on the board in the third today to take a commanding lead. Senior second baseman Christian Baglini (Milford, Connecticut/Notre Dame High) got it started with a two-run single, and Campbell followed with an RBI single to put Stonehill up 3-0. Sophomore third baseman Steve Lee (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree) capped the big frame with another RBI single, while Campbell came in to score on an error.

The Skyhawks added to their advantage in the top of the fourth, as Monte belted a solo homer, but Nyack got the run back in the fifth on an RBI single by Vidaurre. The Warriors then pulled to within one run after scoring four times in the sixth, highlighted by senior Dylan Schantz's (Phoenix, Arizona) two-run single.

Holding a slim 6-5 edge after six innings, Stonehill plated three runs in the top of the seventh to gain some breathing room. Senior shortstop Dan Fratus (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) drove in Baglini with an RBI single, and after an RBI groundout by Lee, Schneider upped Stonehill's lead to 9-5 with another RBI single.

Stonehill added two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth and was able to withstand Nyack's three-run rally in the bottom half of the inning, as the Skyhawks improved to 5-1 during their spring break trip.

Stonehill (9-2, 0-0 NE-10) returns to action tomorrow night with a 6 p.m. contest at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Nyack (0-8, 0-0 CACC) will look to bounce back on Wednesday with games against LIU Post and Bloomfield.
