EASTON, Mass. (September 19, 2014) – Stonehill College junior outfielder Brian Campbell (Franklin, Massachusetts/Mount Saint Charles) has been named to the 2014 DII Baseball News Summer All-American second team, it was announced earlier this month.

Campbell hit .352 with four home runs, 11 doubles, and 33 RBI in 43 games this summer for the Martha's Vineyard Sharks of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). He also scored 33 runs, drew 10 walks, and stole 12 bases as the Sharks won the East Division crown and a first round playoff series before falling to the Worcester Bravehearts, 2-0, in the best-of-three championship series.

Campbell was selected to participate in the FCBL All-Star Game in late July, a contest in which he went 1-for-2 for the East squad. In 43 regular season games for the Sharks this summer, Campbell registered 14 multi-hit efforts, including a monster 5-for-5 performance in a 17-3 victory over Pittsfield on July 31st. He also recorded two separate ten-game hitting streaks, as he hit safely in ten straight contests from July 5-July 19, before accomplishing the same feat from July 25-August 7.

The junior outfielder was joined on the second team by players from other Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) schools, including Southern New Hampshire University's Mike Mastroberti, Southern Connecticut State University's Joe Breen, and the University of New Haven's Kyle Cullen.

Campbell led Stonehill and ranked 20th in the NE-10 with his .318 batting average last season. The Franklin, Mass. native played in all fifty games for the Skyhawks, recording 16 doubles, three triples, and 24 RBI to go with 18 walks and 13 steals.

As a freshman in 2013, Campbell was named to the NE-10 All-Conference third team and NE-10 All-Rookie Team after hitting .347 with five doubles, three triples, and 11 RBI. He also scored 18 runs and drew 13 walks as a utility player for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill (30-20, 17-10 NE-10) returned to the NE-10 Championship last spring after a one-year absence. The Skyhawks earned an 11-4 win at Franklin Pierce University in the first round and followed that up with a 3-1 victory over Adelphi University to open the knockout round before being eliminated with consecutive losses to Southern New Hampshire and Adelphi.
