Stonehill Announces Baseball & Softball Schedule Changes; UPDATED 3/19

Makeup dates to be announced

EASTON, Mass. (March 19, 2014) – The Stonehill College baseball and softball games that were scheduled for today have been postponed with the makeup dates to be announced.

The baseball team was scheduled to open its 2014 home slate against Assumption College today at Lou Gorman Field, with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. Stonehill (10-5, 0-0 NE-10) opened its season in late February with a 3-2 trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge. The Skyhawks then went 7-3 last week during a ten-game trip in Florida, including two wins against St. Thomas Aquinas College and three against the University of Bridgeport. St. Thomas Aquinas was selected in the East Coast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll to repeat as conference champion, while Bridgeport was picked third.

UPDATE: The doubleheader between Stonehill and American International College that was scheduled for this Saturday in Springfield, Mass., has been moved to tomorrow, 3/20 at Franklin Pierce University. The first game will be played at 3 p.m. with the second game to follow at 6 p.m.

The softball team was also slated to open its conference schedule this afternoon with a doubleheader against Bentley University. Last week in Clermont, Fla., Stonehill (5-7, 0-0 NE-10) opened its season with a 5-7 trip at the Dot Richardson Spring Games. The Skyhawks will be in action this weekend with three doubleheaders, all on the road. Stonehill will play at Southern Connecticut State University on Friday, at LIU Post on Saturday, and at the University of New Haven on Sunday.
