Duff Named NE-10 Pitcher of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (April 1, 2013) – Sophomore pitcher Jim Duff (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) of the Stonehill College baseball team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Duff went 1-0 for Stonehill on the week. The sophomore tossed a complete-game one-hitter to shut out the 11th ranked Southern New Hampshire University Penmen 1-0 Saturday afternoon. Duff faced 31 of 27 possible batters, with runners reaching on just one hit, two walks, and an error. The Stonehill starter struck out eight Penmen in the victory.

So far this season, the sophomore holds a 3-3 record with a 1.77 ERA in six appearances. Duff has yielded 21 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 38 over 45.2 innings on the year. Duff earns the award for the first time in his career.

Stonehill (15-9, 3-1 NE-10 Northeast) returns to action Tuesday afternoon when it hosts UMass Lowell in a NE-10 Northeast Division matchup at 3:30 p.m.
