2012: NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll (Fall Semester). Appeared in 15 games for Stonehill - second most on the team - making two starts. Posted a 3.25 earned run average with a 3-0 record overall, one combined shutout and a team-leading three saves in 44.1 innings pitched. Yielded 42 hits, 19 runs (16 earned), 11 walks and 35 strikeouts. Held opponents to a .259 batting average in 162 at-bats and left-handed batters to a .196 average (10-for-51). Averaged 7.11 strikeouts per game and a 3.2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Made his first-collegiate appearance against Post University in game two of a doubleheader on February 25 throwing four scoreless innings, giving up one hit, one walk and five strikeouts for his first-career win. Held C.W. Post scoreless over 1.2 innings of work on March 4 to start his career with a 5.2 innings scoreless streak. Made his first-career collegiate start against American International College in game two of a twinbill on March 15 tossing six innings, allowing four hits, one walk and a season-high seven strikeouts. Recored his first-collegiate save against Bentley University on April 11. Pitched 2.1 scoreless innings yielding two hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Fanned at least one batter in every appearance but two on the season. Stonehill went 10-5 overall when he appeared in a contest. Only gave up one home run on the year coming in his last appearance. Longest outing of the season was six innings, twice, against American International College (March 15) and Saint Michael's College (April 1). Also picked up saves against Southern New Hampshire University (April 14) and Merrimack College (May 6). Combined to throw 4.1 innings in both of those saves giving up four hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts. Did not surrender a run in seven out of his 15 appearances. Only allowed seven of 16 inherited runners to score, four more than any other reliever. Inherited the most runners out of the pen on the staff over the course of the season. Went two-straight appearances to start the year without allowing an inherited runner to score (March 4 to March 12). Kept four-straight inherited runners from scoring during a span from April 21 to May 2.

High School: 2011 graduate of Middletown High School. Member of the varsity baseball team from 2009-11. Three time RIBCA All-Star selection. Also earned RI All-State honors and two All-Division and Newport County accolades. Newport County Player of the Year. Captained the team in his season year. Was named to the All-Division team in soccer in 2011.

Personal: Born on November 2, 1993 in Middletown, R.I. Son of Carmen and Jairo Rugel of Middletown, R.I. Has one sister, Tatiana (23).
