EASTON, Mass. (May 16, 2011) – Four members of the Stonehill College baseball team have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference as selected by the league's 14 head coaches. Junior lefthanded pitcher/outfielder Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) has earned first team All-Northeast-10 honors, while senior first baseman Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and senior righthanded pitcher Bryan Galligan (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) were both selected to the third team. Freshman lefthanded pitcher Zack Soulier (Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law) was voted to the NE-10 All-Rookie team.

White earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the second-straight season at utility after being named to the third team in 2010. He started all 48 games for Stonehill this season, batting .331 (59-for-178) with 34 runs scored, nine doubles, three triples, three home runs, 26 RBI and team-best 24 stolen bases. White slugged .466 and posted a .405 on-base percentage while committing just one error in 86 chances (.988) in the field. He also made nine appearances (eight starts) on the mound and was 3-3 with a 2.60 earned run average, 50 strikeouts and just 11 walks in 52.0 innings, holding opposing batters to a .211 batting average.

White hit .368 (32-87) with runners on base, including .383 (23-60) with runners in scoring position, converted 70.6-percent (12-of-17) of his chances with a runner on third and less than two out and reached base 37.8% (14- 37) of his opportunities when leading off an inning. He posted a team-best 19 game hitting streak during the season, finished with 15 multiple hit games and four multi-RBI outings. In 25 NE-10 games, White hit .326 (31-95) with 18 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, a home run, 17 RBI and eight stolen bases. He earned NE-10 and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCBWA) East Region Pitcher and Player of the Week honors once each during the season.

White, a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division II All-Star last season, has started 88 of the 97 games he has played over his three year career at Stonehill. He has hit .317 (105-for-331) with 47 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 46 RBI and 37 stolen bases. In 25 career appearances (19 starts), White has posted a 9-6 record and 2.87 earned run average with one save, 110 strikeouts and just 26 walks over 140.1 innings. He has earned All-Northeast-10 honors in two sports this year after collecting second team honors during the soccer season on his way to being a consensus All-East Region pick. White also earned All-Tournament team honors at last year's NCAA II East Regional.


Junior Michael White earns All-NE-10 honors for a second sport this season with his first team honors in baseball after collecting second team honors during the soccer season as well.

Bruno earned All-NE-10 honors for the second-straight year after being named to the first team as a junior. He started all 48 games for Stonehill this spring and hit .273 (47-for-172) with 28 runs scored, a team-best 12 doubles, two triples, team-high eight home runs, 38 RBI and six stolen bases. Bruno slugged .506 and posted a .362 on-base percentage while committing just three errors in 395 chances (.992 fielding percentage) at first base.

Bruno hit .333 (28-for-84) with runners on base, was successful on 62.5-percent (15-for-24) of his chances with a runner on third and less than two out and produced 11 two-out RBI. He is second on the team with 15 multiple hit games and leads the squad with 11 multi-RBI outings.

Bruno, a consensus All-East Region selection as a junior, was a preseason NCBWA All-Region selection and named to the Tino Martinez Award preseason watch list. He was recently named the Edward E. Martin Male Scholar-Athlete and Fr, John McCarthy Leadership Award recipient at Stonehill's senior student-athlete dinner. Bruno has started 170 of the 177 games he has played over his career, hitting .264 (163-for-618) with 113 runs scored, 36 doubles, seven triples, 23 home runs, 115 RBI and 22 stolen bases. He was named MVP of the 2010 NE-10 Championships, also earning All-Tournament team honors for the event.

Galligan collects All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time after a breakout season on the mound for Stonehill. In ten appearances, nine starts, he posted a 5-1 record and 2.00 earned run average with one complete game, 68 strikeouts and just 14 walks in 67.2 innings, holding opposing batters to a .207 batting average. Galligan was tough against lefthanded batters, limiting them to a .167 average (eight hits) and finished with two pickoffs. He made seven appearances, six starts, in NE-10 play and was 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA, 46 strikeouts and 11 walks in 45.0 innings.

In two seasons for Stonehill since transferring from Franklin Pierce University, Galligan has made 16 starts (17 appearances) and is 8-1 with a 3.38 ERA, 91 strikeouts and 33 walks in 109.1 innings.

Soulier had an impressive freshman year for Stonehill to earn his spot on the NE-10 All-Rookie team. He made 11 appearances, five starts, in his first collegiate season and was 5-2 with a save, 2.22 earned run average, 27 strikeouts and just ten walks in 44.2 innings. Soulier was named NE-10 Rookie of the Week once and made six appearances, four starts, in Conference play, posting a 3-2 record and 3.18 ERA with 16 strikeouts and six walks over 28.1 innings.

Stonehill (30-18, 13-12 NE-10) is ranked seventh in the most recent NCBWA East Regional poll and fourth in the NEIBA Division II rankings. The Skyhawks earned a spot in the Northeast-10 tournament for the second straight season before being edged by Franklin Pierce, 3-2, in the first round.
