Bruno earns preseason recognition following All-Region campaign in 2010

EASTON, Mass. (February 7, 2011) – Stonehill College senior first baseman Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) has been selected to the preseason All-East Region team by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), while the defending Northeast-10 Conference champion Skyhawks were picked third in the NCBWA's preseason East Region poll.

Bruno has been named as the NCBWA's preseason All-East Region first baseman by the regional committee, which also selected the preseason East Regional rankings. Defending NCAA Division II East Region champions Franklin Pierce University is ranked first by the NCBWA, receiving six of seven first place votes (69 points), while Southern Connecticut State University earned the remaining first place vote (64 pts) and is ranked second. Stonehill collected 52 points, the University of New Haven is fourth (44) and Wilmington (Del.) University is fifth (37).

Bruno was a concensus All-East Region selection last spring, earning first team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and second team accolades by the NCBWA and Daktronics. He started all 49 games for Stonehill last season and posted a .286 (53-for-185) batting average, with 32 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple, team-high ten home runs (2nd NE-10) and 45 RBI (3rd) to go with a team-best 11 stolen bases on 14 attempts.
