New Haven, Conn. - The Skyhawks had eight hits on the afternoon but couldn't push a run across the board as Southern Conn. St. won  7-0 on Sunday afternoon.  The win pushes the Owls win streak to ten games and drop the Skyhawks to 21-19 and 11-13 in NE-10 play.

Shane Franz (Cazenovia, N.Y.), Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) and Thomas Marino (Garden City, N.Y.) each had two hits for Stonehill in the losing effort.

Southern got on the board early as they recorded four runs in the bottom of the first. Sam Greenberg walked to lead off the inning. Kevin Bowerman hit a single to right field in the next at-bat to set up an RBI single by Karl Derbacher. The next four batters would reach on singles as the Owls tallied three more runs in the inning.

The Skyhawks best opportunity came in the fourth, as Weber and Ryan Healey (Lynn, Mass.) singled to open the inning. After a flyout, Franz walked to load the bases but he was picked off first following a pop up to end the scoring threat.

The Owls padded their lead in the bottom of the seventh as Bowerman, Derbacher and Ryan Geffert all singled to start the inning. Geffert drove in Bowerman  and Andrew Babb advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt to set up a two RBI single by Nick DeProspo as the Owls pulled away, 7-0.

Stonehill returns to action on Tuesday when they host Franklin Pierce at 3:30 p.m.
