Pleasantville, N.Y. - Pace reliever Eric Brown tossed six innings of superb relief, holding visiting Stonehill to just two hits over the final six frames to help Pace escape with a 3-2 win on Thursday afternoon on Finnerty Field.

The Setters opened the scoring in the second when an RBI single by Dennis Almonti was one of the Setters four hits off of Skyhawk starter Andy Hillier (Hanover, Mass.) in the inning, but Stonehill responded, tying the game in the top of the third with a run-scoring single from Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.).

An RBI double with two outs from Pace's Joe Cotone in the bottom of the frame put the Setters back in front in support of starter Nick DeMeo. DeMeo couldn't hold the lead, however, and was replaced by Brown after giving up consecutive walks to open the fourth inning. Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.) then evened the score with a sacrifice fly to center.

Andy Hillier, who gave up six hits in the first three innings, settled down the rest of the way allowing just three hits over the final five innings. The game-winning run scored in the fifth on a wild pitch in an inning where no hits were allowed.

No Stonehill player had more than one hit as DeMeo and Brown combined to allow just five hits overall. Hillier meanwhile, went the distance yielding three earned runs and striking out seven.

Stonehill drops to 17-14 and 9-8 in Northeast-10 play, while Pace moves to 15-21-1 and 9-11 in league action. The Skyhawks return to action on Friday when they host Saint Rose beginning at 3:30 p.m.
