Leesburg, Fla. - The Skyhawks used excellent pitching and some timely hitting to sweep a double header from C.W. Post on Saturday afternoon. Stonehill won the first contest 2-0 behind a dominating pitching performance from Matt Guisti (Hopkinton, Mass.) and took the second one 3-1 to even their record at 2-2 on the season.

The Skyhawks jumped on top in the second courtesy of a Kyle Shepard (Boxford, Mass.) RBI single to right. Stonehill got another RBI from catcher Scott Hackett (Bangor, Maine) in the fourth. That would prove to be all the run support Guisti would need as he blanked the Pioneers allowing just five hits while walking three and striking out four in seven innings of work

In the nightcap, C.W. Post grabbed a 1-0 run in the second on a two out single by Mike Alfano that drove home Anthony Montesano.

The Skyhawks tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.) singled to right and then stole second and third. He scored when Mike Alfano's throw on Angelo Bruno's (Norwalk, Conn.) ground ball went just wide of first base.

Neither team could do push a run across for the next five innings. However in the seventh, Pioneers first baseman Stephen Orefice couldn't handle Ryan Healey's (Lynn, Mass.) ground ball and it allowed sophomore Nathan Weber to score. An RBI sacrifice fly by Shepard gave the Skyhawks another insurance run later in the inning.

C.W. Post battled back in the bottom of the seventh, as they loaded the bases, but Shane Penzone (Hudson, Mass.)  induced a game-ending fly out from Edward Bartley to preserve the Stonehill victory.

Penzone earned the victory, pitching all seven innings, finishing with one earned run and four hits allowed to go with one strikeout.

The Skyhawks are back in action tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. as they take on C.W. Post again in another regional matchup in Davenport, Fla.
