Easton, Mass. - The Skyhawks won their sixth straight game with a 5-2 victory over Bentley on Wednesday afternoon, getting timely hitting and a solid pitching performance from freshman Eric Haughn (Pembroke, Mass.).

The southpaw went the distance for Stonehill, allowing two runs while scattering seven hits over nine innings and striking out a career high seven batters.

The Skyhawks, who improve to 14-11 overall, were led on offense by first baseman Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn.). The sophomore went 3-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and finished a single short of the cycle.

The Falcons opening up the scoring early, as Brett Damato hit a solo home run over the left field fence in the top of the first to grab the early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Bruno led off the inning with a triple over the right fielder's head. He scored on a Tom Marino (Garden City, N.Y.) single to center, tying the game at one.

An inning later Stonehill took the lead as shortstop Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.) led off the inning with a single.  A sacrifice bunt and fly out to right moved him to third before Ryan Healey (Lynn, Mass.) drove Davis home for his team leading 15th RBI of the season.

The Skyhawks added to their lead in the fifth as Bruno hit his first dinger of the season, a two run shot to right center to open up a 4-1 advantage.

In the top of the six two of the first three men reached for Bentley. An RBI single by Mark Lane cut the lead to 4-2 and put runners on first and second with one out.  However, Haughn retired the next two batters to get out of the inning.

Stonehill stretched their lead back to three in the seventh, as Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) hit a one out single and then stole second and third before jogging home after the catcher's pickoff attempt on the steal sailed over the third baseman's head.

Haughn put down the Falcons in order in the eight and in the ninth induced a double play with two men on before striking out the final batter of the game.

The Skyhawks return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to AIC for a double header.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
