Worcester, Mass. - The Skyhawks dropped a pair on games to Assumption on Saturday afternoon in Worcester.  The Skyhawks weren't able to get any offense in the first game, losing 9-1, and in the second they fell just short of the Greyhounds, 11-10.

Ryan Healey (Lynn, Mass.) had three hits and three RBI to pace Stonehill on the day, while Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) scored three runs, had two hits and stole two bases.

In the first game of the afternoon, Greyhound first baseman Tim Scafidi led the second inning with a walk, moved to third on a double and scored on an infield ground ball to open the scoring, 1-0.

Mike Baillargeon opened the third inning with a ringing double to the leftcenter field gap and Frigon looped a single to centerfield for the Greyhounds and a single up-the-middle to make it 2-0.

The Hounds put it away with a four-run fourth inning with four runs. Stonehill scored their lone run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by junior third baseman Matt Skane (Mashpee, Mass.).

A base-loaded walk to Baillargeon plated a run for the Greyhounds in the fifth and they added two more in the sixth on a fielders choice and an RBI single.

In the second game of the afternoon, the Skyhawks got on the board in the top of the first as Healey singled across a run in the first inning as Stonehill took a quick lead before the Greyhounds erupted to move to a 7-1 advantage, chasing pitcher Matt Olson (Winchester, Mass.) in the process..

In the fifth, the Skyhawks got the first three runners aboard without registering a hit. With one out in the inning, Healy lined a single to score a run.  Stonehill scored their second and third run of the inning on a throwing error by the shortstop on a fielder's choice by Kyle Shepard (Boxford, Mass.). Nick Nardacci (Glenmont, N.Y.) then singled home two more runs, and Shepard came around to score and tie up the game.

Stonehill finally took the lead in the sixth inning on a single by senior outfielder Weber and pair of stolen bases (he scored on an overthrow) to make it 9-8.

An infielder ground out by Wally Derosier tied it 9-9 in the eighth before Stonehill retook the lead, 10-9, on a squeeze bunt by junior outfielder Rob Van Stein (Trumbull, Conn.). Foley won it for the Hounds in the bottom of the ninth.

The Skyhawks now sit at 7-8 and 0-2 in the NE-10 while Assumption improves to 8-7 and 2-0 in conference play. The teams play a single game Sunday at 1 p.m. at Stonehill.
