Manchester, N.H. - Stonehill and Southern New Hampshire split a Northeast-10 baseball doubleheader at Penmen Field Saturday afternoon with the Penmen taking game one 2-1, and the Skyhawks securing a 7-1 win in the nightcap.  SNHU is now 7-29 overall and 5-22 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks are 22-19 and 13-11 in the league.

In the opener, SNHU's Mike Evans did not allow a hit until Mitch Davis' (Bow, N.H.) double down the left field line with one out in the sixth.  He scattered three hits and struck out eight to pick up his fourth win of the season.

The Penmen scored both of their runs in the fourth on RBI singles off of starter Nick SantaBarbara (Middleton, Mass.). He was the tough luck loser, going eight innings allowing nine hits and two unearned runs.

Stonehill got the bats going early in game two, as it took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-run home run by Dave Fredette (Goffstown, N.H.).  The Skyhawks would add two more runs in the third on a two-run single by Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.), then scored a single run in the sixth and two more in the seventh. 

Matt Giusti (Hopkinton, Mass.) grabbed his seventh win of the season, going seven innings, yielding just three hits, no walks and striking out six. Nick Peters (Newton, Mass.) finished up for Stonehill, giving up two hits and an earned run.

Weber paced the offense with two hits and three RBI. Fradette was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, while Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) and Davis also had two hits.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday for a single game beginning at 1 p.m. on Lou Gorman Field.

Following the game, Stonehill will host a baseball clinic with members of the Easton Youth Baseball League.
