Skyhawks Shutout By Setters, 6-0

Pleasantville, N.Y.  - Pace junior Nicholas DeMeo combined with two relievers to blank visiting Stonehill, 6-0 at Finnerty Field on Sunday afternoon.

With their win, the Setters improve to 21-12 on the season and 11-3 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks fall to 16-14 overall, 8-7 in NE-10 play.

DeMeo tossed 5.1 solid innings, scattering five hits and surrendering a pair of walks, while striking out five. MacKenzie King came in for 2.2 innings allowing just two hits and fanning four, while Eric Brown came in to finish off the shutout with a perfect ninth inning.

Pace scored four of their six runs in the fifth, with Matt Rigoli providing a two-run single up the middle that was the inning's biggest blow.

Freshman Nick Peters (Newton, Mass.) started for Stonehill allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits, while walking one and striking out four.

The Skyhawks got two innings of solid relief from classmate Dan Corrigan (Portsmouth, R.I.), who yielded just two hits and added a strikeout. 

Dave Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) had three of the Skyhawks seven hits on the day, while Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) chipped in a 2-for-4 day.
