Giusti Leads Trio Named All-Conference

Easton, Mass. - Led by junior Matt Giusti (Hopkinton, Mass.), Stonehill had three different players earn All-Conference honors it was announced by the Conference office earlier this week.

Giusti, who had an 8-4 mark with a 2.79 ERA, was named to the second-team, while senior Dave Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) both earned third-team accolades.

Fradette appeared in 41 contests, finishing first on the team in RBI (31) third in hits (46) and batting average (.301) while tying for the team lead in home runs (3). In a wild 22-12 win over Ashland early in the season, he drove in a career-high six runs, hit two homeruns had five hits and scored three runs. Later in the season, he had four hits and five RBI in a win over Southern New Hampshire.

Guzman, meanwhile saw action in 45 games, making 44 starts. He hit a team-best .327 and finished with 51 hits. Midway through the season he had a 10-game hitting streak and produced 16 multi-hit games. In a two-game series against St. Anselm, he went 7-for-9 with two runs scored and seven RBI. During a season in which he finished fourth in RBI (25), he led the team in slugging (.417), walks (18), on-base percentage (.411) and sacrifice hits (9).

Guisti was the Skyhawks' most reliable pitcher, tossing five complete games and two shutouts. In 80.2 innings, he yielded only 10 walks and 10 extra base hits. During a five game stretch of appearances, he went 4-0 and didn't yield a walk while striking out 14. In a no-decision in a win over St. Rose, he tossed 10 innings of three hit ball, walking one and striking out 12. Later, he hurled a complete game four hitter with eight strikeouts in a win over Pace.

Stonehill finished their season at 25-22, one game outside of the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs.
