Easton, Mass. - Behind a complete game effort from junior starter Matt Giusti (Holliston, Mass.), Stonehill collected its third straight win, this time a 3-0 victory over American International on Monday afternoon on Lou Gorman Field.

Giusti scattered six hits and struck out eight without giving up a walk as he improved to 2-1 on the season.

The Skyhawks, meanwhile, have been getting excellent pitching as of late having received three complete games in their last four contests.

The game was scoreless in the sixth when Dave Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) led off the frame with a double. Back-to-back singles from Shane Franz (Cazenovia, N.Y.) and Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn.) gave Stonehill a 1-0 edge. A sacrifice fly from Rob Von Stein (Trumbull, Conn.) plated another run before Yellow Jacket starter Brett Cooley got out of the inning.

Fradette and Franz teamed up again in the eighth to get Stonehill an insurance run. They opened the inning with consecutive singles and each advanced a base on a sacrifice from Bruno. A Matt Orr (Wilton, Conn.) sacrifice fly scored Fradette, upping the Skyhawk advantage to 3-0.

American International never got a runner to third base and their lone scoring threat came in the fourth inning when they got singles from Jeff Rustico and David Dest, but Guisti got a harmless grounder from Mike Massery to end the inning.

Franz led the offensive attack for Stonehill, going 3-for-4 with a double, while Fradette was 2-for-4 with a double as well.

Now at 10-6 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10, the Skyhawks will return to action on Tuesday when they host St. Anselm at 3:30 p.m.
