EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) rapped out three second game hits and drove in a pair of runs as Stonehill swept a non-league college baseball doubleheader from Saint Michael's by identical 4-2 finals Saturday afternoon at Gorman Field.

Senior Matt Vaughn's (Bow, N.H.) two-run homer in the bottom of the first staked the host Skyhawks (13-18) to a 2-0 lead in the opener, but the visiting Purple Knights (7-16) plated a pair in the top of the fifth to even matters on RBI singles by junior John Kunkel (Loudonville, N.Y.) and sophomore Sean Naughton (Goffstown, N.H.). Sophomore Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) provided the heroics for Stonehill in the bottom of the sixth, as his two-out, two-run double was the difference and made a winner of sophomore Justin Perry (Wilbraham, Mass.) on the mound for the hosts, as he allowed just one hit over 2 2/3 innings of relief work to improve to 2-1 on the season. Junior David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) collected a pair of hits in the opening game win for the Skyhawks, while sophomore Joe Gil (Andover, Mass.) had two of Saint Michael's six hits in the first contest.

Guzman's two-run single in the bottom of the second of the nightcap highlighted a three-run frame for Stonehill, which took advantage of an error and also received an RBI single off the bat of junior Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.). The Purple Knights plated single tallies in the fourth and fifth innings on an RBI double by sophomore Greg Robins (Westford, Mass.) and a Kunkel RBI groundout to close to within 302, but the Skyhawks scored an insurance run in the bottom of the frame when Halloran led off with a triple and scored on an RBI single by senior Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.). Weber and Halloran each had two hits to join Guzman in accounting for eight of Stonehill's nine second game safeties, while freshman Alex Harrison (Walpole, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate win with three scoreless innings of relief, evening his record at 1-1. Freshman Mike Robert (Wellesley, Mass.) was a tough-luck loser on the mound in the nightcap for Saint Michael's, allowing just one earned run while fanning three, as four different Purple Knights recorded hits.

Stonehill heads to Manchester, N.H. on Tuesday afternoon for the first of a two-game Northeast-10 Conference set with Southern New Hampshire beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Saint Michael's hosts the College of Saint Joseph's in a non-league doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in Colchester, Vt. beginning at 3:00 p.m.
