EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Matt Giusti (Hopkinton, Mass.) tossed a complete-game six-hitter and struck out six to record his second shutout of the season in lifting Stonehill to a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Southern New Hampshire Wednesday afternoon at Gorman Field.

Giusti walked only one and stranded seven runners in evening his record at 4-4 on the spring for the host Skyhawks (19-23, 11-17 Northeast-10), as he hooked up with senior Rob Hennessy (Westford, Mass.) of the visiting Penmen (10-17, 9-16 Northeast-10) in a pitcher's duel that lasted just one hour and 45 minutes. Stonehill plated both of its runs in the bottom of the sixth, as senior Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.) led off the frame with an infield single and advanced to second on a base hit off the bat of junior Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.). After both runners moved up on a sacrifice, Marston scored on a balk called on Hennessey, and senior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) plated Halloran with the insurance run with a two-out triple to right center that closed out the scoring.

Halloran rapped out two of the Skyhawks' five hits on the afternoon, while senior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.) joined classmates Vaughn and Marston with hits as well for Stonehill. Junior Bill Murray (Canton, Mass.) collected two of Southern New Hampshire's six hits on the day, as Hennessy went the distance on the mound for the visitors and fanned eight in suffering the setback.

The two teams completed a suspended conference game from April 19th that was halted by darkness in a 1-1 tie after 16 innings of play, and Murray's RBI single in the bottom of the 18th inning gave the Penmen a 2-1 victory over the Skyhawks.

Stonehill hosts Assumption in a Northeast-10 doubleheader on Sunday afternoon in its home finale at Gorman Field beginning at Noon, while Southern New Hampshire heads to Springfield, Mass. on Friday afternoon to take on American International in a Northeast-10 match-up that begins at 3:30 p.m.
