EASTON, Mass.-- Freshman Aaron Zrenda (Niantic, Conn.) rapped out three hits and drove in four runs to lead Pace to an 8-4 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Stonehill Wednesday afternoon at Gorman Field.

The visiting Setters (16-17, 9-5 Northeast-10) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in their first at-bat on Zrenda's two-run single as well as an RBI single off the bat of junior Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, N.Y.), and Pace extended that edge to 5-0 in the second on Zrenda's second two-run single in as many innings. An RBI single by senior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.) got the host Skyhawks (11-17, 5-11 Nortehast-10) on the board on the bottom of the third, and after the Setters got that run back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, Conn.), Stonehill crept back to within 6-4 in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by freshman Brendan Shepard (Boxford, Mass.), an RBI single by senior Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.) and a sacrifice fly off the bat of senior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.). That score held until the eighth when Pace tacked on a pair of insurance runs on a pair of RBI singles by senior Ray Caronia (Paramus, N.J.) and junior Christopher Brown (West Kingston, R.I.) to close out the scoring.

Junior Jack Cawley (Bronx, N.Y.) joined Zrenda with three hits as part of a 12-hit attack in the win for Pace, which also received a pair of hits from Caronia. Aldrich rapped out three hits in the setback for Stonehill, which also received a pair of hits (including a triple) off the bat of senior Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.) as part of an eight-hit effort. Junior Michael Sheehy (Pelham, N.Y.) picked up the win with four shutout innings of two-hit relief for the Setters, while senior Chris Herrmann (Chelmsford, Mass.) allowed five earned runs and struck out five in 7 1/3 innings of work in taking the setback on the mound for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill travels to Smithfield, R.I. on Friday afternoon for a Northeast-10 outing with Bryant that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Pace hosts Bentley in a Northeast-10 twinbill on Saturday afternoon in Pleasantville, N.Y. beginning at Noon.
