EASTON, Mass.-- Seniors Steve Gath (Reading, Mass.) and Tom Haugh (Andover, Mass.) each rapped out sixth inning RBI singles to propel Bentley to a 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Stonehill Tuesday afternoon at Gorman Field.

The game was scoreless into the sixth frame when junior Joe Nardi (West Hartford, Conn.) and senior Tim Denehy (Norwood, Mass.) each drew one out walks for the visiting Falcons (5-15, 1-2 Northeast-10), and after a sacrifice advanced the runners, Gath and Haugh followed with their RBI singles to stake Bentley to a 2-0 advantage. The host Skyhawks (6-10, 0-4 Northeast-10) got a run back in the bottom of the seventh when sophomore Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) walked, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on an RBI single by senior Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.), but Stonehill left the bases loaded in the frame and was unable to plate the equalizer.

Gath, Haugh and freshman Charlie Pagliarulo (Medford, Mass.) each collected two hits to account for all six safeties on the day for Bentley, as sophomore Brett Fistes (South Deerfield, Mass.) picked up the win on the mound for the Falcons with three scoreless middle innings of relief that featured four strikeouts to improve to 1-4 on the season. Sophomore Tim Cadran (Greenfield, Mass.) pitched the final two innings and fanned three to record his first save for the visitors.

Marston, seniors Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) and Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.), junior David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) and sophomore Dave Migani (Amity, Conn.) accounted for Stonehill's five hits on the day, as senior Chris Herrmann (Chelmsford, Mass.) scattered five hits and struck out five over 7 1/3 innings of work on the mound for the Skyhawks in falling to 0-2 on the season.

Stonehill heads to Lowell, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon to take on UMass Lowell in a Northeast-10 outing at LeLacheur Park that begins at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Waltham, Mass. on Thursday afternoon to finish the two-game league set with Bentley at DeFelice Field that also begins at 3:30 p.m.
