EASTON, Mass.-- Senior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) rapped out three hits and recorded five stolen bases as Stonehill closed out its Northeast-10 Conference baseball slate by sweeping a league doubleheader from Assumption by identical 3-1 finals Sunday afternoon at Gorman Field.

The host Skyhawks (21-23, 13-17 Northeast-10), who have now won 20 or more games in each of Head Coach Patrick Boen's 10 seasons at the helm, grabbed a 2-0 lead in the opener with single runs in the fourth and fifth frames on an RBI single by junior Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and a sacrifice fly by junior David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.), and after the visiting Greyhounds, who end their season at 18-26 overall and 10-20 in Northeast-10, got on the board in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by junior Chris DeSimone (Johnston, R.I.), Stonehill added an insurance tally in the bottom of the frame on Fradette's RBI single. Junior Mat Lindenmayer (Penfield, N.Y.) pitched 8 1/3 innings of six-hit ball and struck out five to improve to 6-2 on the spring for the Skyhawks, as senior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) induced a game-ending double play after Assumption had the tying runs on base in the ninth to record his fourth save. Pardo, Halloran and Vaughn each had two hits as part of an 11-hit attack for Stonehill in the opener, while six different Greyhounds rapped out hits in the contest as freshman Michael Colebrook (Leicester, Mass.) allowed nine hits and two runs over six innings with six strikeouts to fall to 4-4.

Pardo's RBI single, coupled with a two-out error, enabled the Skyhawks to grab a 2-0 third inning lead in the nightcap, as Stonehill added a run in the sixth on senior Tom Aldrich's (New Canaan, Conn.) RBI single to close out its scoring. Junior Brian Quaglieri (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored the lone Assumption run of the second contest on an error in the ninth inning, as senior Chris Herrmann (Chelmsford, Mass.) went the distance to record his third victory of the spring for the Skyhawks, scattering eight hits and allowing the unearned tally while matching his career-high with 13 strikeouts. Senior Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.) and freshman Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.) each had two hits in the nightcap for the winners, while sophomore Brett Kulhawik (Trumbull, Conn.) suffered the setback on the mound for the Greyhounds in the second contest, allowing two earned runs and fanning three to fall to 2-3.

Stonehill closes out its 2007 campaign on Wednesday afternoon when the Skyhawks square off with Rollins in a non-league contest at Bentley's DeFelice Field in Waltham, Mass. at 3:00 p.m.
