WORCESTER, Mass.-- Sophomore Matt Giusti (Hopkinton, Mass.) scattered five hits and struck out six over eight shutout innings as three individuals rapped out two hits and drove in a run each to lead Stonehill to a 5-0 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Assumption Friday afternoon at H.L. Rocheleau Field.

The visiting Skyhawks (14-18-1, 6-12-1 Northeast-10) plated the only runs they would need with a three-run outburst after two were out in the fourth inning, as junior David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single by sophomore Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) to give Stonehill a 1-0 edge. Senior Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.) and junior Matt Orr (Wilton, Conn.) added run-scoring singles in the frame as well for the visitors, who plated single runs in the sixth when Marston scored on a passed ball and in the seventh on an RBI single off the bat of senior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) to close out the scoring.

Giusti did not allow a hit over the first 5 2/3 innings on the mound for the Skyhawks, as he threw just 80 pitches (53 strikes) over eight frames to improve to 3-4 on the season. Pardo, Marston and Orr each had two hits to go with their RBI for Stonehill, which is now unbeaten in its last four contests overall.

Sophomore Jeff Barbale (Charlton, Mass.) and freshman Derek Migrants (Ayer, Mass.) each had two hits in the setback for the host Greyhounds (12-17, 4-13 Northeast-10), as freshman Andrew Quinn (Taunton, Mass.) allowed six hits and three earned runs in six innings of work with five strikeouts to fall to 3-5 on the mound for Assumption.

Stonehill heads to New Haven, Conn. on Saturday afternoon to take on Southern Connecticut in a Northeast-10 doubleheader that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Assumption hosts Bentley in a Northeast-10 twinbill on Saturday at Rocheleau Field beginning at Noon.
