MANCHESTER, N.H.-- Freshman Matt Giusti (Hopkinton, Mass.) scattered four hits and struck out five over seven shutout innings of work to collect his first collegiate victory as Stonehill completed a sweep of a three-game Northeast-10 Conference baseball set from Southern New Hampshire with a 10-3 league triumph Sunday afternoon at Penmen Field.

The visiting Skyhawks (26-13, 20-5 Northeast-10) staked Giusti to a 4-0 third inning lead without the benefit of a hit, as Stonehill took advantage of five errors in the frame by the host Penmen (19-20, 10-17 Northeast-10) and added RBI grounders by senior Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and junior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.). The Skyhawks added four more tallies in the sixth to extend their advantage to 8-0, as an RBI double off the bat of junior Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.), coupled with two Southern New Hampshire errors, aided the rally. Stonehill closed out its scoring with two runs in the eighth on an RBI triple by junior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) as well as a sacrifice fly by sophomore Mat Lindenmayer (Penfield, N.Y.), and the Penmen plated all three of their runs in the ninth on a bases-loaded walk to junior Jason Smith (Acton, Mass.) and a two-run double by freshman Brandon Thomas (Cornwall-Hudson, N.Y.).

Seven different players collected hits in the win for Stonehill, which completed the month of April with a 15-3 mark and remains a game up on second-place Franklin Pierce in the Northeast-10 standings. Senior Dean Chiusano (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and freshman Justin Perry (Wilbraham, Mass.) combined for four strikeouts over the final two innings of work for the Skyhawks. Southern New Hampshire received eight hits from eight different players in the setback, as senior Joe Johnson (Pelham, N.H.) allowed just two earned runs and struck out seven to fall to 2-4 on the mound for the Penmen on the season.

Stonehill hosts Southern Connecticut in the first of a key Northeast-10 home-and-home set on Tuesday afternoon at Gorman Field beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Southern New Hampshire hosts Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 match-up on Tuesday afternoon at Penmen Field at 2:00 p.m.
