NORTON, Mass.-- Junior Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.) became the second player in school history to hit for the cycle as Stonehill used a 19-hit attack to post a 10-1 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Southern New Hampshire Tuesday afternoon at Wheaton College’s Sidell Stadium.

Lawrence joins former Chieftain standout Leo Bush as the only two players in school history to accomplish the feat, as the Stonehill first baseman doubled to right in the third inning, tripled to center in the fifth and belted a two-run homer, his second of the season, in the sixth. Lawrence then blooped a single to left in the eighth to complete the cycle, the first since Bush turned the trick 10 years ago.

The host Chieftains (16-11, 9-6 Northeast-10) took an early 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and third frames, as freshman Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) rapped out an RBI single and plated the second tally on a double-play groundout. Stonehill extended that margin to 4-0 in the fifth when senior Tim Flynn (Clifton Park, N.Y.) tripled home Lawrence and then scored himself on an error, and the Chieftains broke things open with a four-run sixth inning, as an RBI single by sophomore Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) and an RBI double by senior Craig Audette (Raynham, Mass.) that preceded Lawrence’s homer.

The visiting Penmen (7-18, 4-13 Northeast-10) plated their lone run in the seventh on an RBI single by junior Adam Trussell (Lancaster, Mass.), and Stonehill closed out the scoring in the eighth on Flynn’s RBI single coupled with a bases-loaded walk to sophomore Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.).

Lawrence and Flynn each collected four hits as part of Stonehill’s 19-hit effort, as Halloran, junior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) and sophomore Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.) each chipped in with two hits for the hosts on the day. Trussell, senior Jon Babcock (Auburn, N.H.) and juniors Chad Lawrence (Manchester, N.H.) and Wayne Parker (Manchester, Conn.) each rapped out two hits to account for all eight Southern New Hampshire safeties.

Junior Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) picked up his sixth win in seven decisions on the mound for Stonehill, as he scattered seven hits over seven innings while striking out nine, while junior Casey O’Brien (Newmarket, N.H.) went 5 1/3 and allowed six earned runs while fanning six to fall to 3-3 on the hill for Southern New Hampshire.

Stonehill and Southern New Hampshire meet again on Thursday afternoon in a Northeast-10 outing in Manchester, N.H. that begins at 3:30 p.m.
