WAREHAM, Mass.-- Sophomore David Qualben (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tossed a complete-game three-hitter and struck out 11 as Pace collected its 10th straight victory with a 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference baseball triumph over Stonehill Tuesday evening at Spillane Field.

The visiting Setters (16-10, 11-2 Northeast-10) overcame an early 1-0 deficit to even matters in the top of the third on an RBI single by freshman Ted Mullen (Madison, Conn.), and Pace took the lead for good in the sixth when Mullen scored an unearned run on a one-out error. Qualben took care of the rest on the mound for the visitors, as he walked two and allowed an unearned run to improve to 3-3 on the season.

The host Chieftains (14-9, 8-5 Northeast-10) took that 1-0 lead in their first at-bat when junior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) reached on an error and later scored on a one-out throwing error. Stonehill had the tying run at third in the bottom of the ninth but was unable to score in suffering its second straight setback, as the Chieftains left five runners on base for the night.

Sophomores Matt Castellano (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Matt Bisbano (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) joined Mullen with hits on the night for Pace, while Lyons, senior Tim Flynn (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.) each recorded hits in the setback for Stonehill. Junior Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) allowed just two hits and one earned run in six innings of work while fanning six for the Chieftains, as he suffered his first loss in six decisions on the mound this season.

Stonehill and Pace meet again in a Northeast-10 outing on Friday afternoon in Pleasantville, N.Y. beginning at 3:30 p.m.
