FINAL: INDIANAPOLIS 10, STONEHILL 2

FORT MYERS, Fla.-- The Stonehill baseball team dropped a 10-2 non-league decision to Indianapolis on Thursday evening as play continued at the Gene Cusic Classic at Terry Park.

The victorious Greyhounds (4-4) snapped a 2-2 tie with five runs in the fifth inning of play, and Indianapolis added three insurance tallies in the seventh to account for the final score.

Junior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) went 3-for-4 and scored a run in the setback for the Chieftains (3-4), who also received a pair of hits from senior Craig Audette (Raynham, Mass.) and a 2-for-3 effort that included a double from sophomore Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.). Senior Tim Flynn (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) each collected RBI singles in the setback for Stonehill, as junior Dean Chiusano (Clifton Park, N.Y.) suffered his second loss of the spring on the mound in allowing five runs in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Stonehill takes on Caldwell in a key non-league doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Terry Park, as play in the Gene Cusic Classic continues at 4:00 p.m. The Chieftains are 3-1 to date against NCAA Northeast Regional foes, as the Cougars advanced to last year’s NCAA Northeast Regional championship.
