WAREHAM, Mass.-- Freshman Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs as Stonehill presented Head Coach Patrick Boen with his 200th career victory with a 12-1 Northeast-10 Conference baseball triumph over American International Tuesday evening at Spillane Field.

The host Chieftains (10-6, 4-2 Northeast-10) got all of the runs they would need with a six-run outburst in the second inning to present Boen with his milestone triumph, as the 1989 Stonehill graduate has compiled an overall mark of 200-139-2 (.589) during his eight-year tenure at his alma mater. Junior Sean Lawrence’s (New Rochelle, N.Y.) three-run double capped the second inning rally after the Chieftains had received a pair of RBI singles from senior Craig Audette (Raynham, Mass.) and junior T.J. Piscatelli (Norfolk, Mass.) as well as an RBI groundout by sophomore Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.).

The hosts added two more runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Halloran and plated four more tallies in the seventh and eighth frames courtesy of a pair of Halloran sacrifice flies to go with a bases-loaded walk to freshman David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) and an error. The visiting Yellow Jackets (4-11, 0-6 Northeast-10) scored their lone run in the ninth on junior Drew Kohl’s (Easthampton, Mass.) one-out RBI groundout.

Audette recorded a pair of hits to become the 12th player in Stonehill history to reach the 100 career-hit plateau, as he did so with his second inning single. Audette joined Lawrence, Halloran, Piscatelli and senior Tim Flynn (Clifton Park, N.Y.) with two hits each as part of a 14-hit Chieftain attack, as senior Billy McLane (Plymouth, N.H.) scattered seven hits and struck out five on the mound for the hosts over seven shutout innings to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Senior Paul Thompson (Lunenburg, Mass.) and sophomore Dominic Meattey (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) each had a pair of hits in the setback for American International, as freshman Uchon Yi (Windsor Locks, Conn.) allowed eight hits and three earned runs over five innings in falling to 2-2 on the season for the Yellow Jackets on the mound.

Stonehill returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when the Chieftains head to Waltham, Mass. to take on Merrimack in a Northeast-10 doubleheader at Bentley’s DeFelice Field beginning at 1:30 p.m., while American International hosts Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 outing on Wednesday afternoon in Springfield, Mass. at 3:30.
