Doug Monson is in his 13th academic year overseeing the athletic communications office at Stonehill College, having been elevated to the position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications in 2015. He oversees the publicity efforts of all 23 of the Skyhawks intercollegiate athletic programs and is webmaster for stonehillskyhawks.com. Monson serves as the primary contact for the football, field hockey, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's swimming and the men's and women's basketball and tennis programs. In addition, he serves as executive producer of SkyhawksVision on NE10 NOW, the athletic department's live video streaming platform, oversees the athletic department's marketing and branding efforts and is the sport administrator for the men's and women's tennis programs.

Since his arrival at Stonehill, Monson has had the opportunity to publicize an athletic department which has finished in the top three of the Northeast-10 Conference's Presidents' Cup standings all 11 years, winning the Cup on five occasions. He has promoted 81 All-Americans, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 64 NCAA Division II Tournament participating programs and 37 Northeast-10 Conference champions. Football head coach Robert Talley was a finalist for the 2013 Liberty Mutual Division II Coach of the Year, Brian Harrington was named the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston's 2013 Joseph P. Zabilski Defensive Player of the Year and most recently, quarterback Matt Foltz received the Jack Daly Award for Academics, Citizenship and Football from the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

Monson has overseen three redesigns of stonehillskyhawks.com, launched a social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as well as the popular Stonehill Skyhawks mobile app. Since his arrival on campus in 2009, the athletic department has gone from video streaming three sports (football and men's & women's basketball), to providing video streaming coverage for home events of 15 of its varsity athletic programs via its SkyhawksVision platform, with partnerships through NE10 NOW.

Monson has successfully placed 15 student-athletes and coaches in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of Sports Illustrated over his career, including six since coming to Stonehill. He was also successful in placing Patrick Lee's gamewinning shot at Le Moyne College in 2011 as the "Top Play" on ESPN's SportsCenter.

Monson came to Stonehill with 13 years of sports information experience overall, including ten and a half within the Northeast-10 Conference. He spent eight years as Sports Information Director at Franklin Pierce University where he had the opportunity to promote five national players of the year, five appearances in national championship games - including the 2007 NCAA Division II Champion men's soccer program and the 2009 national runners-up in women's basketball. During the 2007-08 academic year, four Franklin Pierce programs reached the final stages of their respective NCAA Tournaments and three Raven student-athletes earned national player of the year honors - including women's basketball standout and 2012 Olympian Johannah Leedham as the State Farm/WBCA Division II Player of the Year.

Prior to returning to his alma mater Franklin Pierce, Monson served two years as sports information director at American International College (1999-2001). While with the Yellow Jackets, he was the primary contact for the football program which captured back-to-back Eastern Football Conference (now Northeast-10) championships and coordinated the Harlon Hill Trophy campaign for running back Kavin Gailliard, who placed second for the Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.

Monson also worked in sports information with the New England Collegiate Conference (1997-99) and at the University of North Florida (1996-97). He also served as the Media Relations Coordinator for the Keene (N.H.) Swamp Bats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) from the team's inception in 1998 through the 2009 season. Monson completed an undergraduate internship within the media relations office of the Boston Celtics for longtime and respected NBA media relations director, Jeff Twiss.

An active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Monson has been a member of the organization's Academic All-America program since 2003, currently serving as national coordinator for the women's basketball and women's cross country/track & field programs in Divisions I and II. His 2004 Franklin Pierce men's soccer media guide was named "Best in the Nation" by CoSIDA, he oversaw the 2012 Academics Illustrated publication which earned "Best Cover" honors for "Special Publications," his 2015 Football Game Notes finished second in the nation for fall game notes and a 2017-18 women's basketball graphic design earned national recognition by the CoSIDA Publications & Digital Media Contest committee. Monson recently accepted a position on the Eastern Athletic Communications Association (EAST-COMM) board as at large University Division representative.

Monson has served on NCAA Division II Regional advisory committees for volleyball and men's tennis, which evaluates East Region programs for consideration for NCAA Championships, and serves as Sports Information liason to the Northeast-10 volleyball coaches. Monson is an active member of the National Football Foundation Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter, recently being named banquet chair.

Monson resides in Brockton, with his wife, Melissa, and their three children, Andrew (18), a member of the Stonehill Class of 2025, Emma (15) and Sam (9). He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Franklin Pierce in 1996, where he majored in mass communication with a minor in sports management.
