Maureen Purcell joined the Stonehill Athletic Department in 2016, as the assistant athletic director for recreational sports. 

Purcell comes to Stonehill after serving nearly three years at Montana State University, including the last two years as director of club sports, intramurals and lifeguards, after working in an interim capacity for three months in 2014. Previously, she was club sport coordinator for the 2013-14 academic year. Purcell received the Pure Gold Award at Montana State in 2015, creating and maintaining the club sports website and social media accounts for multiple programs. She provided American Red Cross CPR/First Aid training to all staff members and club leaders and partnered successfully with various campus entities, including Residence Life, Associated Students of Montana State University, Office of Activities and Engagement and Admissions.

Before joining the staff at Montana State, Purcell was the sports and recreation director at Gallatin Valley YMCA in Bozeman, Montana, for over three years. Prior to her time in Montana, she was a graduate assistant for intramural sports at Florida State University from 2008 to 2010. Purcell returns to Southeastern Massachusetts for the first time since she was assistant director of campus recreation at Bridgewater State University in 2008.

Purcell is a 2008 graduate of Bridgewater State, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in history, later receiving her Master of Science degree in sports management from Florida State in 2010.

Purcell currently resides in Canton.
