An outstanding pitcher for the softball team, Julie
McGivern was a 1985 graduate. She holds Stonehill records
for wins in a season (9), career wins (31), and career shutouts
(12). She also had a 1.08 career earned run average. As a freshman
on a 22-4 team which won the State Championship, Julie was 9-0 with
a 0.67 earned run average. She posted five shutouts. In 1983, she
was 8-3 with a 0.97 earned run average on a team which finished
19-9. As a junior, Julie was 8-3 with a 1.30 earned run average.
The team was 16-11-1. In her senior season, the team was 25-8 and
qualified for the ECAC Division II Tournament. Personally, Julie
was 6-2 with 1.12 earned run average. In her sophomore year, the
first year in the NE-8, Julie was selected All Conference First
Team. Her No. 22 jersey has been retired. She and her husband,
Mike, live in West Hartford, Conn.
