Stonehill College Skyhawks

A 1952 graduate, the late Bill Herilhy played basketball for Stonehill and captained the team all four years. During his sophomore and senior seasons, Stonehill won the Southern New England Coastal Team Championship. It was an outstanding accomplishment for the team which was only in its early years of varsity basketball. Herlihy was often the offensive leader by constantly scoring in double figures, including several games in which he scored 20 or more points. Bill was also an outstanding ball-handler and had a deadly right-hand push shot. In addition to his athleticism and competitiveness on the court, Herlihy was an outstanding golfer. In his senior year he was crowned Stonehill’s Golf Champion. Members of his class and teammates are proud of his induction with Stonehill’s all-time best.
