There have not been many members of the Stonehill Athletic Hall of Fame who went through their four years at the College without meeting Brockton Enterprise sports writer Jim Fenton.

Fenton has been a member of The Enterprise’s sports staff since 1981, where he has covered the Southeastern Massachusetts college sports scene, including Stonehill College, for the last 31 years.  Additionally, Fenton has been The Enterprise’s beat writer for both the Boston Celtics and the National Basketball Association since 1985.

Fenton writes a twice-weekly college notes column that routinely features the successful stories of Stonehill athletics, its student-athletes and coaches, in addition to his game coverage for the paper. His coverage of Stonehill athletics hasn’t been confined to just Easton, having traveled to cover its teams at Northeast-10 and NCAA Championships across the northeast.

Fenton recieved the Northeast-10 Conference’s Dick Lipe Media Award in 2004, as well as the Monahan & Wallace Media Award from ECAC-SIDA in 2000. He was named by the New England College Athletic Conference as its Sports Media Person of the Year in 1996, has received Springfield College’s News Media Recognition Award and received the Crimson & White Award from Bridgewater State University in 2013. His work has been recognized by the New England Newspaper & Press Association as well as the New England Associated Press News Executives Association.
