Donald Edmonston played basketball for Stonehill for four years, graduating in 1957. He was injured most of his senior year. His junior year, Don averaged 18 points a game for the Chieftains. He was honorable mention All-American in 1954, 1955, and 1956. He scored 850 career points. After leaving Stonehill, Don started his coaching career at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree in 1959. His seven-year tenure included stints as head basketball and baseball coach and assistant football coach. In 1966 Don moved to Stoughton High School in the Hockomock League. He was the freshman baseball coach and head basketball coach. In basketball, he won five Hockomock League titles. He qualified for the MIAA State Tournament nine of the 13 years. His overall record was 294-143. He also served as Director of Athletics from 1967 to 1979. Don was a basketball coach at Massasoit Community College for the 1980-1981 season. In 1983, he moved to King Philip where he served as Director of Athletics and was named Athletic Director of the Year in 1991. He has also served as the girls basketball coach at Mansfield High. Overall, his basketball teams have a combined 314-164 record. He and his wife live in Easton.
