In 2000, Mark Cregan, CSC, an alum from the class of 1978, was inaugurated as the 9th President of Stonehill College. During his tenure, Fr. Mark's support for Athletics was unprecedented. He oversaw the building of W.B. Mason Stadium and the renovation of all outside athletic venues. He increased scholarship aid so Stonehill could become competitive not only regionally, but nationally as well. Adequate funding allowed the college to assemble the finest coaching staff and administrative team in the Northeast-10 Conference.

In his time at the College, Stonehill won four President’s Cups (2006, and three-straight from 2010-12), captured 51 Northeast-10 Conference Championships, received 59 NCAA Bids, has gone to six Final Fours and won four National Championships.

A stat that he is most proud of is that Stonehill is ranked second out of 300 Division ll NCAA institutions in academic success rate.

Fr. Mark cared deeply about Stonehill's student-athletes. He understood the privilege that students had to be able compete at a high athletic level with the Stonehill written on the front of uniforms. He understood how important athletics is on a college campus and was well aware that the skill set, acquired by our student-athletes, will help them succeed in this competitive and complex world.
