EASTON, Mass. (January 31, 2019) – The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2018 semester, recognizing 255 student-athletes from Stonehill who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher.

The NE10 Academic Honor Roll acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes in the classroom with three distinctions – Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA), and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49 GPA). Of the 4,077 student-athletes that were named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, 255 Skyhawks represented Stonehill, which is 59-percent of the student-athlete population.

Leading the way with 51 student-athletes recognized was the football team. The next team with the largest number of student-athletes represented was the women's track & field team (37), followed by the men's track & field team (20), men's ice hockey (17), and women's cross country and field hockey (16). On the women's side, women's cross country led the way with 94-percent, followed by women's soccer with 82-percent, and women's track & field and women's golf with 80-percent recognized. On the men's side, men's cross country led the way with 64-percent, followed by men's basketball with 60-percent, and ice hockey and men's track & field with 57-percent recognized.

Among the 255 student-athletes named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, eight achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, seven of which did so during their team's season. Earning the highest of honors while in season were men's cross country freshman Evan Kennedy, women's cross country sophomore Samantha Curtin, football junior Michael Curtin, men's soccer junior Daniel Pereira, women's soccer freshman Julia Sisti, volleyball junior Rachel Dunlavy, and ice hockey senior Kyle Paquette. Baseball's sophomore Jared Brooks, was also among the eight perfect GPAs.

With 21 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. In addition to finishing in the top three of the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings for overall athletic performance 14 straight years, the Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first eighth years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for seventh among all NCAA Division II institutions, with eight Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked 11th in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
