Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex

RETURN TO FACILITIES PAGE

Renovated in 2015, the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex is home to the majority of Stonehill’s athletics, from the 20 Division II Skyhawks varsity athletic programs, to the 11 club sports and 20-plus intramural sports. Now spanning more than 100,000 square feet, SBA’s newest addition is the 55,024 square foot Rev. Mark T. Cregan, C.S.C., Athletic and Fitness center, named for Stonehill’s ninth president.

Features of this expansion include:

• The James “Lou” Gorman, ‘53 Pavilion, through a grant from the Yawkey Foundation, will display and honor Gorman’s commitment to the Boston Red Sox and Stonehill College. His sports memorabilia, including two World Series rings, and his long-lasting relationship to the College are featured.

• A new 19,556 square foot fitness center serving the entire campus community, complete with 150-plus cardio and resistance equipment pieces.

• Five new team locker rooms and eight renovated locker rooms to serve varsity teams, faculty, staff and students.  Nine varsity teams will now have the opportunity to utilize a team locker room for the first time.

• New State-of-the-art Sports Medicine facilities, complete with hot/cold therapy tubs, a rehabilitation area and twice the number of treatment tables to serve our student-athletes.

In addition to athletic facilities, SBA provides students with areas to study, such as the 1,000 square foot Richard “Dick” Grant Student-Athlete Study Lounge, providing access to group and individual study space, technology and additional academic resources and two large multi-purpose rooms, designed to house a variety of activities from group exercise sessions and undergraduate classes to meetings, receptions and community events.

Finally, SBA houses new archival display cases telling the story of the history of Stonehill athletics and recreation and office suites for the Athletic & Recreation Department, coaches, and administrative staff.
