Ace has named senior goaltenderBilly Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Advantage and Boston Bandits) from the men's ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Palmer helped the Skyhawks to a 2-1 week and broke some records along the way in his two appearances in goal. He tallied a career-high 57 saves in Wednesday's 3-2 win over Saint Michael's, breaking the Northeast-10 career record by finishing with 2,489 over his four years at Stonehill. Palmer followed that up with 28 stops against Southern New Hampshire on Saturday night. Palmer earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season (third career).

Week Ending February 3, 2019

It's happened before, and it's rare when it does, but Ace has named two recipients in nameing senior All-Americans Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) and Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) from the regionally-ranked men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. The duo led a pair of Stonehill relay teams to New England titles at the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend. Taxter and Vercollone led Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay to its first New England championship in event history on Friday, posting an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 9:53.89 that is currently ranked No. 6 in the country. Vercollone took the baton for the 800-meter leg in 1:52.9, before Taxter completed the mile anchor in 4:06.0, kicking into the lead for good with 50-meters to go after dipping to second heading into the bell lap. The pair were back on the track on Saturday and were part of a 4x800-meter relay that captured a New England championship in 7:38.48. Vercollone ran the lead leg in 1:54.9, while Taxter ran a 1:52.5 anchor leg. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the seventh time this year (tenth career), while Vercollone collects his first of the year (seventh career).

Ace has once again named senior All-AmericanLucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter improved his NCAA Division II Championships provisional qualifying time at BU's John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Saturday with his 16th place finish out of 140 entries in the one mile run in 4:09.49. He placed ninth among collegiate runners in the event and second among NE10 runners, moving up to fifth nationally from ninth with his season-best time which also ranks second in the NE10. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the sixth time this year (ninth career).

Week Ending January 20, 2019

Ace has named senior Joe Connolly (Wilmington, Massachusetts/Austin Prep) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Connolly posted three strong performances for the Skyhawks at Saturday's Sorlein Invitational at Rhode Island. He finished third out of 24 entries in the 200-meter dash in 22.88-seconds, fastest among non-Division I competitors in the event. He was also the only non-Division I sprinter to qualify for the 60-meter dash finals and finished fourth in 7.08-seconds after qualifying third out of 24 entries in with a time of 7.09-seconds. Connolly also ran the second leg of Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay that finished third as the only non-Division I relay in the field of seven. Connolly, who also collected NE10 Track Athlete of the Week honors for his efforts, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this year (second career).

Ace has named junior All-American Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) from the men's track & field program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter led the Skyhawks at the Beantown Challenge at Harvard on Saturday by provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, in March, with a second place finish in the one mile run in 4:10.69. Taxter's time currently ranks sixth nationally in Division II – 1.32-seconds off the top time in the country so far this winter, and fastest in the NE10. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fifth time this year (eight career) with his first selection during the indoor season.

Week Ending January 6, 2019

Ace has named junior forward Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vermont/Vermont Academy) from the men's ice hockey program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Wright recorded three points with a goal and two assists to lead the Skyhawks to a 6-2 non-conference triumph over Johnson & Wales University in their lone game of the week on Saturday. He was +3 for the contest and also won ten faceoffs in the win, the second in three games for Stonehill. Wright has now scored in six-straight contests as he netted a power play goal to five the Skyhawks a 4-0 lead, before adding a pair of assists to seal the win. Wright earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season (second career).

Ace has named sophomore guard Owen Chose (Eden Prairie, Minnesota/Eden Prairie), from the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Chose scored five of his 17 points in overtime, connecting on a key three-pointer, to lift Stonehill to a 65-63 comeback win over Bridgeport in its lone game of the week on Saturday for its fifth-straight win and seventh over the last eight. He finished 5-for-10 from the floor, including 2-for-5 from three, while adding six rebounds and two assists. Chose earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

For the second-straight week, Ace has named junior swingman Will Moreton (Minneapolis, Minnesota/Edina), from the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Moreton scored a career-high 35 points on 12-of-24 shooting in the Skyhawks lone game of the week, an 85-72 win over Concordia, on Sunday. He shot 5-for-10 from three-point distance, while converting all six free-throws, and also grabbed ten rebounds to record his fifth double-double of the season (12th career). He added four assists and career-best four blocked shots in the win, becoming is the 40th student-athlete in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, with a three-pointer with 5:29 to play in the second half. Moreton earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season (fifth career).

Ace has named junior swingman Will Moreton (Minneapolis, Minnesota/Edina), from the regionally-ranked men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Moreton averaged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Skyhawks, contributing 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocked shots and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 48.3-percent (14-for-29) from the floor and converting all eight free-throws for the week. He notched a double-double for the fourth time this season (11th career) in Wednesday's 70-61 win over Assumption, with game-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while adding three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. He posted his third-straight 20-point outing (15th career) to move within 32 points of becoming the program's 40th 1,000-point scorer in Saturday's 78-64 win over SNHU as he made 7-of-14 shots from the field, including 4-for-7 from three-point distance, on his way to a team-best 20 points, including 13 in the second half, to go with nine points, two assists and two steals. Moreton earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season (fourth career).

Ace has named senior All-American Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers), from the men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter turned in the highest individual finish in program history at the NCAA Division II Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday to become the men's program's first All-American in 12-years. He completed the 10-kilometer course at the Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park in 32:57.7 to take 19th in the field of 261 runners and lead the Skyhawks to a 21st place team finish. Taxter's 19th place finish is the first All-America performance by a Stonehill men's runner since Stonehill Hall of Famer Keith Gill finished 27th in 2006 and tops David Metzger's 25th place finish in 2005. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth time this fall (seventh career).

Ace has named junior forward Dan Largey (Oceanport, New Jersey/Peddie School), from the men's basketball program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Largey averaged 20 points on 47.4-percent shooting, including 12-for-24 (50%) from three-point range, in a 2-1 week for the Skyhawks, which included a pair of games against nationally-ranked teams. He made all 12 of his free-throw attempts for the week and and contributed seven rebounds, two assists and a steal per game for the week. Nearly had a double-double in Saturday night's 89-79 victory at #11/12 Florida Southern with 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists, shooting 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and burying all six free-throws. Largey poured in a season-high 27 points in Friday night's 76-67 win over Saint Leo on 9-of-14 shooting, including 5-for-9 from three-point distance, while converting all four free-throw attempts, as he also collected a team-high nine rebounds and added two assists and two steals. He chipped in nine points at #4/4 Saint Anselm on Tuesday. Largey earns Ace's Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season (third career).

Ace has named senior All-American Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers), from the East Regional Champion men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter led the Skyhawks to their second-straight and fifth NCAA Division II East Regional Championship in program history with a second-place individual finish in the field of 170 runners. He completed the ten kilometer course at Bethpage State Park on Long Island in 31:15.30, just four seconds behind the three-time regional winner, collecting his second NCAA Division II All-East Region honor, after he finished third last year, to lead Stonehill to the NCAA Division II Championships for the 16th-straight year. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this fall (sixth career).

Week Ending November 11, 2018

Ace has named senior quarterback James Lam (Quincy, Massachusetts/Quincy), from the football program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Lam capped his collegiate career with 238 total yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Stonehill to a season-ending 31-20 triumph over Assumption. He rushed the ball 16 times for 68 yards and two scores, while completing 12-of-22 passes for 170 yards through the air. He also placed three pooch punts inside the Assumption 20-yard line, two of which were inside the ten, with his final one downed inside the one-yard-line late in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory. Lam led a Skyhawks offense that controlled possession at 40:10, with 437 total yards, including 290 on the ground. Lam earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named senior All-American Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers), from the regionally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter led the Skyhawks to a second place finish at the 2018 NE10 Championships on Sunday with a second-place individual finish to earn All-NE10 honors for the third-straight year. He completed the eight-kilometer course in 24:28.1 - just six seconds off the lead pace as the Skyhawks posted a second place team finish by just seven points with 57. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season (fifth career).

Ace has named senior back Patrick Doherty (West Milford, New Jersey/Saint Joseph Regional) from the men's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Doherty keyed a Skyhawks defensive effort in two matches last week, including a key 1-1 draw with Franklin Pierce to close out the season. He also stepped into the attack and delivered an assist on the Skyhawks goal which leveled the match and proved to be the tying goal in the 21st minute. Doherty earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named senior Christopher Drace (Franklin, New Jersey/Pope John XXIII) from the nationally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Drace led the Skyhawks, who is ranked No. 20 in the USTFCCCA National Ranking and No. 1 in the East Regional ranking, to a fourth-place finish at the Sixth Annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The senior was the first Skyhawk across the finish line finishing 16th with a time of 26:06.6 in the eight-kilometer race out of 106 competitors. Drace earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, New Jersey/Saint Joseph Regional) from the football program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Kearns, Jr. led the Skyhawks against Merrimack on Saturday night as he rushed the ball 36 times for a season-high 235 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for another 13 yards in addition to posting the fourth-highest single-game rushing attempts and yardage totals in program history. He went over 100 yards for the second time this season and 200 yards for the second time in his career. Kearns, Jr. reached the end zone for the third straight week, scoring from a yard out in the second quarter and then on a 44-yard run in the fourth quarter. Kearns, Jr. earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season (third career).

Ace has named senior All-American Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) from the nationally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter assisted the Skyhawks to a fourth-place finish at the New England Championships, crossing as the first Division II institution at Franklin Park on Saturday. The senior earned his first cross country All-New England honor and his fifth-career recognition with a third-place finish, his best mark at the Championship. He clocked in a time of 25:00.2 in the eight-kilometer race. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this fall (fifth career).

Ace has named freshman Juan Camilo Riano Rojas (Bradenton, Florida/IMG Academy), from the men's tennis program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Rianjo Rojas was a double-winner in leading the Skyhawks to a 6-3 win over Emerson in their lone match of the week. He teamed up with junior Samuel Miller (Smithfield, Rhode Island) for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles as Stonehill took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Riano Rojas followed that up with a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles against Emerson junior Brock Higley. Riano Rojas earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named juniorBrendan Hughes (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica) from the men's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Hughes recorded the second shutout of his career with a 3-0 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, where he registered a career-high nine saves. The win over the Owls was the second victory in program history. Hughes totaled a .810 save percentage this week, while also stopping eight of No. 20 Southern New Hampshire's shots on goal on Saturday night.  Hughes earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Ace has named senior All-American Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers) from the nationally-ranked men's cross country program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Taxter led the Skyhawks, ranked No. 1 in the region, to a second-place team finish at Saturday's Kutztown Division II/III Challenge in Pennsylvania with a second place individual finish in the field of 128 competitors. He completed the eight-kilometer course in 26:29.9 as Stonehill placed two runners in the top five and three in the top ten. Taxter earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career.

Ace has named junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, New Jersey/Saint Joseph Regional) from the football program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Kearns led a Skyhawks offense which piled up 517 total yards, including 318 on the ground in Saturday night’s wild 57-54 triple-overtime win at Saint Anselm in the 14th “Battle for the Ol’ Bronze Hawk.” Kearns, Jr. rushed the ball a school-record 44 times for 180 yards and a career-best three touchdowns, including the game-winning three-yard score in triple overtime to lift the Skyhawks to their 15th-straight win over the Hawks. He also added touchdown runs of 17 and 2 yards, the latter of which knotted the score at 45-45 with 22-seconds remaining in regulation on third down. He also caught a pass for seven yards. Kearns’ 44 rush attempts breaks the previous school mark of 43 attempts by Michael McSharry '98 against Sacred Heart University in 1995, while Kearns' three touchdowns were just one shy of the single-game mark accomplished four times in program history. Kearns, who also earned the New England Football Writers/NFF Division II/III Gold Helmet Award, earns Ace's Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career.

Ace has named senior midfielder Justin Brehm (Latham, New York/Shaker) from the men's soccer program as the Champions Choice Stonehill Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Brehm led the Skyhawks to an unbeaten start to the season, as the captain engineered their play from midfield in a 1-0-1 week. He netted the opening goal of Thursday's 2-0 win over Holy Family at Skyhawk Field to send Stonehill on its way to the win. He was also instrumental in leadership for the Skyhawks as theu dug themselves out of a 2-0 first half deficit to force a 2-2 double-overtime draw. Brehm earns Ace's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time.
