228 Stonehill Student-Athletes Named To Fall 2014 A.D. Honor Roll

EASTON, Mass. (February 11, 2015) – Stonehill College has announced its Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2014 semester, and 228 student-athletes have been recognized for earning a semester grade point average of 3.20 or higher.

Each of Stonehill’s 20 intercollegiate athletic programs is represented on this semester’s list, led by the football team, which had 32 of its student-athletes recognized. The women’s track & field team (27), women’s lacrosse team (21), and men’s track & field team (20) all placed at least 20 student-athletes on the A.D. Honor Roll, while the softball (93%), men’s tennis (80%) women’s lacrosse (75%), women’s track & field (73%) and women’s cross country (73%) teams all saw at least 70% of their rosters earn Honor Roll recognition. Overall, 52% of Stonehill’s 436 student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.20 or higher last fall.


Senior Bryan Wilcox earned his second consecutive NE-10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for cross country this past fall.

Individually, six student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester, highlighted by junior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) from the women’s track & field program, who posted a 4.0 for the fourth consecutive semester. Senior Dan Fratus (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) from the baseball team, sophomore Jackie Del Bonis (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/North Attleboro) from the field hockey team, and freshmen Sam Bradford (Bedford, Massachusetts/Bedford) from the cross country team, Charlie Calenda (Chelmsford, Massachusetts/Chelmsford) from the football team, and Olivia Peterson (Westford, Massachusetts/Westford Academy) from the softball team also registered 4.0 GPA’s for the fall semester.

Also included on this semester’s A.D. Honor Roll are Stonehill’s Northeast-10 Conference-leading 13 Academic All-Conference selections, led by senior Bryan Wilcox (Plantsville, Connecticut/Southington) from the men’s cross country/track & field teams, who earned his second consecutive Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for men’s cross country this past fall.

With 20 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. In addition to finishing in the top three in the final NE-10 Presidents' Cup standings ten straight years, the Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first three years of the program's existence of honoring programs with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for eighth among all NCAA Division II institutions, with 12 Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked third in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
