Skyhawks collect At Large Academic All-District honors for first time

Stonehill's All-Time Academic All-District selections
EASTON, Mass. (May 12, 2016) – Stonehill College has placed two student-athletes on the CoSIDA Academic All-District I Women’s At Large Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Division II from the East Region.
Senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), from the Stonehill women’s tennis program, and junior All-American Sarah Morse (Westminster, Massachusetts/Oakmont Regional), of field hockey program, have both earned Academic All-District first team honors for the first time and are now eligible for Academic All-America selection, voted on by members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee, to be announced later this month. The CoSIDA women's at large Academic All-America program includes student-athletes competing in bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo.

Kump is the first student-athlete in the history of the women’s tennis program to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. She has earned a 3.84 cumulative grade point average as an international relations major at the College and was recently named the recipient of the Fr. Jack McCarthy, CSC, Leadership Award at the College’s Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony held last week. Kump is a three-time St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal recipient for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the women’s tennis team and a two-time Academic All-Northeast-10 selection over her career, while being named to both the NE-10 Commissioner’s and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll all seven semesters to date.
Kump has been an instrumental member of a women’s tennis program which has earned three NCAA Tournament bids and reached the championship match of the Northeast-10 Tournament three times, winning the championship in the spring of 2013 and fall of 2014. She is a five-time All-Northeast-10 performer, earning second team honors at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles last fall and finishing her career with All-NE-10 accolades for doubles three times and singles twice. Kump has collected NE-10 All-Championship team honors as a junior and senior and earned Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors for the 2014 NE-10 Championship team.
Kump posted a 28-12 combined record in singles and doubles play during her senior season, helping Stonehill to a 15-10 record overall, including 10-2 in the NE-10, reaching the NE-10 Championship match and earning an NCAA Tournament bid this spring. She posted a 12-4 singles record, including 9-1 in NE-10 matches, to go with a 16-8 combined doubles mark, including 7-2 in the NE-10, with three different playing partners. Kump capped her four year career with a 124-51 (.709) career combined record in singles and doubles play. She posted a 53-17 singles record, including 32-8 in NE-10 play, to go with a 71-24 doubles clip, including 38-6 in the NE-10 in her career.
Morse, who is the eighth Academic All-District At Large selection from the field hockey program all-time, has earned a 3.76 cumulative grade point average as a finance major at the College and is a Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society member. She earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time last fall and has received the St. Thomas Aquinas Medal the last two years for having the highest cumulative GPA on the field hockey team. Morse has been named to the Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Squad each of her three seasons with the program and has earned NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll status all five semesters to date.

Morse, who has spent the spring semester studying abroad in Australia, is coming off a junior season in which she was a consensus first team All-American, earning the honors with both Longstreth/NFHCA and synapsesports.com. She earned All-Northeast-10 first team honors for the first time in her career last fall as well and finished the season ranked second nationally in Division II and in the NE-10 with her team-high 12 assists to go with four goals for 20 points, netting three game winning goals. Morse has been named to the NE-10 All-Championship team each of the last two seasons in helping the Skyhawks to back to back Tournament titles and earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the 2015 Championship.
Morse enters her senior season ranked fifth in program history with 24 career assists – 12 shy of the program record of 36 set by Kelly Latendresse ’07. She has totaled 36 points with six career goals, four of which are game winners, over her 59 career games played, chipping in with a defensive save. Stonehill finished the 2015 season with a 14-7 record overall, including 9-3 in the NE-10, claiming its second straight NE-10 Tournament Championship and reaching the NCAA Division II National Semifinals for the second straight year.
With 20 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. In addition to winning its fifth Northeast-10 Presidents' Cup following the 2014-15 academic year, the Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first five years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA two straight years, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for fifth among all NCAA Division II institutions, with 12 Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked third in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs. Stonehill has also been selected as the host of the 2016 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships at W.B. Mason Stadium.
