232 Stonehill Student-Athletes Make NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll

EASTON, Mass. (February 6, 2013) – A total of 232 Stonehill College student-athletes were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for their excellent academics during the fall semester.

This semester’s list recognizes athletes from 18 different varsity sports at Stonehill for receiving a 3.0 GPA or better. Five student-athletes earned GPA’s of 4.0 for the fall semester: field hockey NE-10 All-Conference First Team member Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) and four-time NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll member Teresa McGinley (Sandwich, Mass./Bishop Stang), volleyball middle-blocker and three-time NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll member Mary-Kate Catton (San Diego, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace), softball freshman Megan Ruonavaara (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill), and men’s soccer freshman Joshua Bankert (Cuttingsville, Vt./Mill River Union).

The list also includes soccer Daktronics All-American Honorable Mention goaltender Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth), football Beyond Sports Network All-American Third Team member Jareed Gaines (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley), ice hockey NE-10 points leader and senior captain Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy), and cross country/track & field NE-10 All Conference First-Team member Caroline McBride (North Reading, Mass./North Reading).

Stonehill’s 232 student-athlete honorees were third most in the NE-10 behind Bentley College (350) and Assumption College (235). Stonehill saw 55% of its student-athletes earn honor roll recognition, which was above the conference average of 53.5%. The football team had the most members on the Honor Roll, but the women’s soccer team had the highest team percent on the honor roll, with 85% of the team making the list.
